NS GLOW Journey of Light: VR says more than 360.000 words

From 7 – 14 november, GLOW Eindhoven celebrated its 10th edition. About fifty artists created light art and shows with a Nature & Architecture theme. VRmaster was one of the artists. Together with the Hyperspace Collective, visitors could experience our light art in GLOW Cafe and in the NS (Dutch national railroad) trains.

Magical Public Transport

In a train? Of course! Is there a better way to bring VR to *everyone* than by using a transportation means that is accessible to everyone, namely public transportation? To a public event, GLOW Eindhoven? We don’t think so. At the beginning of each night – during GLOW -, a special NS train departed from Eindhoven CS to another Dutch city. Visitors could hop on in Utrecht, Weert, Deurne and Breda and experience a foretaste of GLOW. Every day, all seats were continuously occupied by curious GLOW visitors. The experience seemed so unique and populair: experienced train travellers and VR fans didn’t take any risk to miss the Journey of Light by trying to secure a seat and VRmaster goggles as early as possible.

Virtual Light journey
Moodbuilders created this custom VR animation for the NS GLOW Trein Experience. In this journey in VR, visitors experienced a very special train ride to Eindhoven CS. While the train rides through dark landscapes, only lit by street lanterns, this light slowly transforms into a magical decor of light art. The magical train journey has begun. As the train races over the rails – which you can see underneath your feet – the journey passes iconic buildings from Eindhoven, like the Evaluon and the PSV stadium. Finally, the journey ends at Eindhoven CS, where the vision slowly transforms back into the surroundings of a train compartment.

VR Dream flight

Together with Moodbuilders, Mojave, AMP Amsterdam and Hyperspace Collective, we showed our Virtual Reality Tour “10 years GLOW”. In a virtual dream flight, visitors experienced the highlights of 10 years GLOW in 3D vision and sound.
